E-Mark is the chip of USB Type C which is used for control and CC logic detection. What is the CC logic detection and control? See below.

Now all kind of device can support to USB3.1 Gen1,in other words, it is just like USB 3.0 vest, speed 5Gb/s.

As the lighting cable is designed based on USB 2.0+2A,so it is same as normal USB cable,just replace the connector. Personally experience, the original lighting cable strain relief and head parts are easy to break. I don’t know why but it is fact. But for the USB 3.0+ 3A Type C cable,  as it with TX/RX+CC+VBUS wires, so it lead their cable OD thicker than others.


Type C cable with 3A, as it is support USB 3.1 Gen 1, so generally they have to adding high temperature, short circuit protection in it.

Data transmission capability

1. Compatible with USB 3.1

Now mass production USB 3.1 Gen1 Type C cable as long as add E-Mark chip, it will be support USB 3.1 Gen2. Tx/Rx transfer wire is prepare for the high speed transmission.

2. Supporting multiple protocols

Type C is not only the all-in-one connector but the whole consumer electronic industry. It is benefit of the prospectively designed. The latest standard of Type C integrated 3.5MM audio transmission, DisplayPort video transmission. And HDMI, Thunderbolt also fuse in. (Lighting, what did you do?)

3. Two-way transport ability.

Type C to Type C can realize the input and output function change. It can make 2 devices transfer the power and data each other.
